How to avoid the worst wedding photos ever

Choosing and booking your wedding photographer is one of one of the mostwedding shambles important tasks when planning your wedding.  Your chosen photographer is likely to be the only supplier who will be with you throughout your wedding day so it’s important you like them and feel comfortable with them because if you don’t it will show in your wedding photos.

Photographing one of the most important days of a couple’s life is an honour, but it can be stressful too it is therefore advisable to choose someone who is an experienced wedding photographer rather than someone who has a nice camera and has offered to photograph your wedding for what appears to be a bargain price.  An experienced photographer will be able to help ensure your wedding day runs smoothly, will be able to direct your wedding guests so that the group photographs are taken with the minimum of fuss which means you and guests can get back to celebrating your wedding day as soon possible and most importantly will have the necessary skills and experience to provide you with a beautiful set of wedding images that you will be proud to share with your family and friends.

Still unsure you have the budget available to employ an experienced professional wedding photographer? Take a look at the wedding photo opposite (it was one of many of similar quality provided to a client by a “professional photographer” http://bit.ly/Telegraph-are-these-the-worst-wedding-pictures-ever) and ask yourself whether this how you want the memories of your special day recorded?

If the answer is NO, which I am pretty certain it will be, add your name and email below to, we will then email you link to the download area where you will be able to download our  “Tips on choosing and booking your wedding photographer” for FREE.

Wedding vows

The wedding vows (Oxford Dictionary definition A set of solemn promises committing one to a prescribed role, calling, or course of action, typically to marriage or a monastic career:the vows of celibacy) are the main part of a wedding ceremony therefore most couples feel it is important to have a photographic record.

The majority of priests/vicars/wedding celebrants are happy for a professional photographer to take photographs during the ceremony and wedding vows, although some ask that a flash is not used and that the photographer does not cause distraction during the wedding service.  A professional wedding photographer will speak with the person conducting the service beforehand to find out their particular requirements.  If flash is not allowed during the ceremony a professional photographer should have the skills and equipment to enable them to work in low light conditions without a flash.  We have several lens that enable us to work in very low light conditions without using flash, also there are always two of us at every wedding ceremony which means one of us can be stationed toward the front of the church/venue to capture the wedding vows whilst the other will be towards the back/side of the venue to capture the reaction/emotion of the wedding guests.

New Year – new ideas! Aerial Wedding Photography

Well it is often said you never stop learning, well that couldn’t be more true for us photographers, there is always a new piece of equipment to get to grips with or a new technique to learn or an old one to hone.

With there being so much choice in wedding photography market (especially it would seem in the Kent area!) every couple of literally hundreds of different photographers to choose from.  We pride ourselves on offering a reliable, friendly service from the time we receive an enquiry to delivering the finished product – all beautiful set of images our couples to treasure.  We always strive to go that extra mile, which in the past has resulted in us doing things that aren’t technically in a photographer’s remit (repairing wedding dresses and child-minding to name a few), but at the end of the day we want our couples to feel totally relaxed and happy on their special day and we will do anything (well almost) to ensure this happens and the day runs without a hitch.

We provide two fully insured photographers at all our full day weddings which enables us to capture the special day from different angles, for example during the ceremony one of us will be capturing the “action” from the front of the room while the other is at the back or moving round the room capturing the reaction and emotions of the guests which the couple won’t necessarily see on the day.  However, we are always looking at ways to improve and differentiate our service so last year we decided to look into the possibility of also capturing aerial images as part of our wedding photography packages by using a UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) or drone as they are more commonly referred to.

Stuart, being the original gadget man, was in his element.  After much research he decided to build one – “I’ve built a kit car before so how hard can it be?”  Answer – quite hard and certainly not a cheap project, but he was pleased with the end result.  The next step was to test it out, after a lot of practice, adaptations and upgrades he is now satisfied with the results.  As you know drones have been in the media an awful lot in the last 12 months, a lot of the stories have unfortunately been negative stories of inexperienced people using drones in an irresponsible manner. Worryingly anyone can go out and purchase a UAV and with the very small basic models going for little over £200 it’s easy to see how these can get into the hands of inexperienced people (often children) – I am guessing that lots of people may have received them as Christmas presents.  However, if you want to use them as a commercial tool there is very strict regulations as to what you can and can’t do, you also need to obtain a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) licence to fly which involves taking a course and preparing an operation manual for your UAV, permission to fly and of course be fully insured.  Stuart is currently studying for his CAA licence which he hopes to have Summer 2015.

Once fully licensed to operate commercially and insured we plan to offer aerial wedding images with all our full day wedding photography packages at not extra cost.  We will keep you posted with progress in the coming months.
