Maternity photo shoots

We live in a 3 storey Victorian house which allows us the fortunate position of being able to have a small studio in the comfort of our own home.

We have been so busy with wedding photography over the last few years we haven’t really made full use of our studio. My wife, Nicola, has been been a second shooter at all our weddings for the last few years and more recently decided to take several photography courses to help her develop her skills.  Well she has well and truly got the techie bug now!

Nicola has decided to develop and expand our studio work, initially concentrating on maternity photo shoots and newborn baby shoots.

We were recently contacted by Helen & Jason, I had photographed their wedding a few years ago and they booked a family portrait session with me last year along with 12 month old Luke – Helen shared the good news with us earlier in the year that they were expecting their second baby in August and wanted to book a maternity portrait session with. This seemed like the ideal opportunity for Nicola to begin her journey – we spoke to Helen and Jason who were happy to help out.

Nicola comments, “As Stuart has said whilst I have been photographing at our weddings for the last few years I wasn’t ever really too interested in the technical side of things.  After taking several photography courses this year that has all changed!  I am now keen to develop and build on the skills I have learnt and am excited about expanding our the maternity & baby section part of our business.  Being a mum myself I know how special the journey of new life is and can’t wait to record the special milestones for couples across Kent.  I am very grateful to Helen and Jason for allowing me to photograph such a special point in time for them.  We were all a little nervous at the beginning of the shoot, but I soon managed to put them at their ease and I was pleased with the results.

A week later Helen and Jason viewed their gallery and sent us the following message

“Nicola, Thank you so much for my maternity photo shoot. I was really nervous but you put me at ease straight away. You had some really good ideas which have turned out looking very natural and I am now struggling to decide which photos to order! Stuart took our wedding photos and our first family photo shoot with our first born. We are so happy with this fantastic family business and cannot wait to return to your studio with our new edition some time after August! !”

Wedding venue – Knowlton Court

Knowlton Court wedding 1

Bay Images Photography are proud to be listed as a preferred supplier at Knowlton Court

A few weeks ago we photographed Derrick & Janet’s wedding at Knowlton Court.  Knowlton Court is a new wedding venue for us, but when we met the couple at the venue for their pre-wedding meeting we could see what a great venue it was and that it would offer a fantastic backdrop for Derrick and Janet’s wedding photographs.

After a several showery days before their wedding day we had our fingers crossed for fine weather for their wedding day.  Our prayers were answered blessing us all with a fine sunny day.

Derrick and Janet have faced many challenges along making their day even more poignant and emotional for all their friends and family sharing their wedding day with them.  When post editing their images the emotions of the day come flooding back – at that point we knew we had done our job!

Knowlton Court wedding ceremony

A few days latter we received these lovely words from the newlyweds which for us was the icing on the cake!

“Hi Stuart and Nicola , Thank you for our amazing photos. You captured our day perfectly.
Your service is 5*, you made us feel very at ease when we met to discuss our expectations for our wedding day .
On the day you made our photo shoot with our guests light-hearted and humorous whilst taking amazing photos , you captured the atmosphere of our day perfectly. Thank you , wishing you both well in the future
Regards
Janet and Derrick”

Maidstone wedding venue – The Black Horse, Thurham

We have just finished and  posted off Nik & Rachel’s wedding photography disks to them.  We captured their wedding for them a few weeks ago at The Black Horse, Thurham, the weather had been particularly changeable a few days beforehand and the weather forecast was for heavy showers throughout the course of the day.  We loaded at our with a an armful of umbrellas just in case, but we needn’t have worried – although Nik & Rachel’s service was due to be held outside the ceremony is held under a covered gazebo protecting both guests and the bride and groom.  The weather Gods were with us for a short time, just enough for the ceremony and the group shots the sun made an appearance.

It also meant we were able take the shots Nik and Rachel had asked for at their pre-wedding meeting at the nearby ruins of Thurham Castle.

Just as we were finishing the last family group the heavens opened so we all went inside the Pilgrim’s suite.  The wedding reception theme was Winnie The Pooh – which was quirky – with miniature characters as the table decorations and the table plan a map of Hundred Acre Wood.
